The safety of our clients is our number one concern. If North Coast cancels the trip due to unsafe wind, weather, or wave conditions, a full refund will be issued. We will go out in some rain and some fog. Our gear is so comfortable that less than perfect weather won’t be an issue. If conditions do not permit us to paddleboard on Lake Superior, an alternative trip will be offered.
Yep. Although standup paddleboarding is a relatively easy skill to learn, you will definitely get wet as part of the learning process.
Yes. You don’t have to be a great swimmer, but you should not be afraid of the water and you should be able to float. We require everyone to wear a US Coast Guard approved lifejacket at all times. Paddleboards themselves are huge flotation devices and you will be leashed to your board so it can never go far away.
Yes. That’s gross. You ABSOLUTELY have to wear something under your wetsuit.
Kids under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone that’s 16 or 17 years old may go on their own, but a parent or guardian must sign their liability release waiver.
It largely depends on the year. We provide ample protection from the cold water by offering high end wetsuits, splash jackets, etc.
Only for the Shipwreck Coast Tour. Our other trips require no previous experience and you’ll get a solid foundation from our instructors.
Probably cooler than you usually look.
Yes, but rentals are limited to inland lakes and rivers. Call for availability.
