Join us for a one of a kind adventure in Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. Spray Falls is the most remote, and arguably the most impressive waterfall in the park. It plunges 70′ from the cliffs of the Pictured Rocks into Lake Superior, and can only be fully appreciated from the water. We are the only outfitter in PRNLS to offer trips to Spray Falls, and we’ll take you along the cliffs from Chapel Beach to the base of the falls for an up-close view.
Your trip will begin with a hike from the trailhead at the Chapel Basin Parking Lot through the forest and along the Chapel Creek Gorge. You’ll pass Chapel Falls, another of the parks more impressive waterfalls, on your way to Chapel Beach where we’ll meet you with all the gear for you paddleboarding adventure. The hike covers a distance of 3 miles over rolling terrain, and takes the average hiker about an hour and forty-five minutes.
After a brief safety and paddling technique review on the beach we will paddle past Chapel Rock, along the cliffs to Spray Falls, and then back to Chapel Beach. From there you’re free to head back out to the parking lot, lounge on the beach, or hike along the cliffs to Mosquito Beach.
All of our paddleboards are equipped with a kayak conversion option. If at any time during the trip you decide you’d like to sit down and paddle, we can clip on a seat, modify your paddle, and transform your paddleboard into a sit-on-top kayak.
